tibet and what we know about the rest of the world

March 16th, 2008

How many people actually know that there is something monumental happening in Tibet right now? If you know about it, how did you hear about it? My friend, t-salon, asked a fascinating question: how many people in China know what is happening in Tibet right now? In general, how do we learn about what is happening in the world? How much news do we miss out on? How much of that is because we purposedly don’t want to learn about (because it’s depressing, because it’s not interesting ..)? How much of that is because it is decided for us by the gatekeepers of the media that we will not be interested in it?

Heya…hope all is well with you over there. Interesting point you brought up. I don’t know if heard my country had recent elections and the opposite won a few major states. After the elections a lot of news were covered up.I find it frustrating when there’s media cover up. There’s so many world issues related to my studies I want to find out about but none reported. We’ve definitely missed out a lot on world issues. Moreover there’s too many depressing news to keep up with, it’s hard to stay updated.

is the first novel written by Jin Yong. The protagonist is Chan Ka Lok, who is the leader of the Red Flower Society. The book title refers to Ka Lok being famous for being well-versed in culture and martial arts, but also for having to make a difficult ethical decision. My father named me and my brother after him.

The subtitle is from a poem Desiderata
