new york, once again

Katsu at katsu-hama

i ended up going to a place called katsu-hama today for lunch. katsu is japanese for deep-fried pork. if that sounds like a weird combination, it is perhaps because we often connotate japanese with ‘sophistication’ and deep-fried and/or pork with .. well, something other than ‘sophisticated’. but leave it to the japanese to turn katsu into something of an art-form. i just had a really good katsu while i was in vancouver and the fear of not being able to live up to that experience was there .. but surprisingly, it was very very good. like an excellent katsu should be, crisp on the outside, moist on the inside.
tonight dinner: sichuan at wu liang ye.
tomorrow lunch: ramen (i think – oh choices, choices).
