After having dissed the Philly music scene in an earlier post, I felt the need to put in some balance back. Philly is obviously not a total musical desert – as a matter of fact, techno and electronica are only dead because of the huge imposing presence of hip hop that characterizes this city so much. Although I am not the biggest follower of hip hop, I have a soft spot for this underground hip hop act, straight from Philly, called Jedi Mind Tricks. Sweet melodies, tight beats and controversial, thought provoking lyrics (tip: select and try “Shadow Business” on their myspace page). Hip hop doesn’t get better than this.
