top five 061029
October 29th, 2006
Decided I should post more random thoughts. Here’s my top five for the day:
- Lacroix At The Rittenhouse. Won Ton noodles in the morning: $3.50. Brunch at Lacroix: $52. Brunch at Lacroix (excellent Beef Wellington, good Coconut Creme Brulee) with two close friends, nice view looking over the fall trees at Rittenhouse Square, not leaving til sunset(!): priceless.
- Scandal of Pleasure. Most recent book read for class; by Wendy Steiner who happens to be also faculty at Penn. Reminds us that we should not lose sight of the aesthetic pleasure of art.
- The Heavenly Kings. Mockumentary about the Hong Kong entertainment business. Haven’t seen a movie that made me laugh so hard in a long time. Best quote by Conroy: “That’s the motherfucking gayest thing I have ever done!”
- Dakine Laptop bag. Unable to find a link to my bag online. But my army green Dakine bag is my current favorite for carrying around my laptop. Pockets for ipod, cell phone and all easy accessible.
- Dunk in the Water. Dick Cheney saying he has totally no problem with the occasional “dunk in the water” to get the information he needs from detainees. This is not the same as water boarding! Curious how many dunks it takes before it is game over?
Also see the almost hilarious (and pathetic) attempt of Snow defending Cheney’s remark that ‘a dunk in the water is a dunk in the water.’ Reminds me of a friend who recently told me, with respect, that ‘history is just that, history’.
