Global Media Abhors US Response to 9-11

The global media is unified in its opinion about how the US handled itself after 9-11: not pretty. One wonders whether the US has an inkling of how the world sees the US.

A nice analogy might be basketball and politics. Consider the amount of good will US basketball had in 1992 with the original Dream Team, with players like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Barkley, etc. People around the world cheered for them. Consider then the amount of good will the US was about to gain in 1992 with the ascent of the Clinton administration. Contrast that to what happened in the last few years: in politics, the surplus in goodwill not only gets squandered but turned into a deficit under the Bush administration, while in basketball, there is lament that the days of the Dream Team are gone, and they are not just gone but replaced by contempt. Sounds familiar?

This book was part of the collective ‘toilet reading’ bookshelf at my last job. Subversion at every toilet break anyone?
