Sweden faces facts on violence against women

How freedom is never absolute. For example, the freedom of speech versus the freedom of religion is a salient example. This Sweden case is another example of how different freedoms can clash; the right to privacy (or the freedom to have your personal space) and the right of being protected against domestic violence (for a lack of a better word; not too eloquent right now) are clearly contradicting interests here. I just thought the feminist movement back in the late sixties already uprooted this paradigm and boldly proclaimed that ‘the private is political’. It seems like that message did not reach Sweden yet, or maybe it should be reiterated. It also reminds us that legislation does not equal reality, even in countries with a strong ‘rule of law’ as in Sweden.

The subtitle is from a poem Desiderata
