If that quoted sentence is not sensationalist enough to make you want to read the article, I don’t know what will. :)

Some good points in the article though – intelligence as measured by the ability to suffer? Being *humane* towards animals? How is that for imposing human standards on animals? It raises the question what conceptual framework should we use to approach how we should live together with animals – we can no longer say we are incapable to do that because of impossibilities of communication since, as this article shows, we are increasingly getting better at understanding animals, their needs, feelings and dare I say it? thoughts.

    Wondering if the researchers knew what their kids are thinking before they researched on cows. huh. I’m miss sceptic today.

is the first novel written by Jin Yong. The protagonist is Chan Ka Lok, who is the leader of the Red Flower Society. The book title refers to Ka Lok being famous for being well-versed in culture and martial arts, but also for having to make a difficult ethical decision. My father named me and my brother after him.
